Denise Love

Denise Love, BSN, MBA, has a background in clinical, public health nursing and in health data analytics and policy. She has been in leadership positions since 1992 as an advocate for statewide health care data reporting programs. Ms. Love served as the Executive Director of the National Association of Health Data Organizations (NAHDO) between 1999-2019, fulfilling NAHDO’s mission to promote the public availability and uniformity of health data by providing technical and advocacy support to statewide data systems. She served as a liaison between state and federal initiatives for HIPAA, the Health Care Utilization Project (HCUP), and CDC programs. In 2007, she Co-founded the All Payer Claims Database Council (APCD) and served as its Co-chair of the APCD Learning Network until 2019. Prior to joining NAHDO, Ms. Love was appointed as the Director of the Office of Health Data Analysis at the Utah Department of Health and as Executive Secretary of the Utah Health Data Committee (a statutory committee under the Utah Health Data Authority Act, U.C.A. 26-33a). She oversaw the establishment of Utah’s first statewide hospital reporting systems and the initial integrated commercial and Medicaid HMO Performance Reporting System. Her team developed the first publicly developed Internet Query System for interactive query of hospital statistics. In 2014, she was appointed to a four-year term to the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Standards Subcommittee. Other appointments “The Panel on DHHS Collection of Race and Ethnicity Data, Committee on National Statistics, National Research Council of the National Academies of Sciences (2002-2004), and numerous other national task forces and committees. Ms. Love received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from St. Mark’s Westminster College of Salt Lake City’s School of Nursing in 1975 and a Masters in Business Administration from the Bill and Vieve Gore School of Business at Westminster College (1994).
