Director of Public Affairs and Communications
Zhan Caplan serves as the director of Public Affairs and Communications at ONC. Prior to this role, Mr. Caplan supported ONC for seven years as a communications contractor on initiatives such as the Nationwide Health Information Network, the Federal Health Architecture, and the Standards and Interoperability Framework.
Mr. Caplan’s career in healthcare communications started at the American Red Cross Biomedical Services national headquarters where he worked in marketing for blood and plasma products, tissue products and clinical services. Since that time he has worked in a variety of healthcare related marketing and communications roles in non-profits, trade associations and education publishing.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in English with a Business Administration minor from Longwood College and a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University.
